Last month, SYLVAN HILLS HIGH baseball coaches and players hosted a multi-day camp for kids in Sherwood. More than 100 kids attended!! In additional to skills and drills, they had a little fun in the summer heat with water balloon baseball and a dunk booth. Go Bears! #pcssdproud

Professional development continues all summer long! Several principals attended the NAESP Pre-K–8 Principals Conference in National Harbor, Maryland earlier this week. These principals networked and learned from other professionals in various school leadership roles. #pcssdproud


The MAUMELLE HIGH football team wrapped up its June workouts with a team hike at Pinnacle Mountain. It was a great way to bond as a team before the dead period (June 25 - July 8) where all AAA athletics were closed. Now it's back to summer workouts on the field! #pcssdproud


July is Make a Difference to a Child Month. PCSSD Director of Humanities Dr. Suzette Bloodman, says: "Words have power. So, let’s use our words to uplift, motivate, and support our children."

Thoughtful Thursday: In addition to working on education skills this summer, also spend time teaching kids to be kind. PBS Kids recommends teaching kids to seek out others to invite to play games or sit together at lunch.

The learning never stops! Four teachers from Sherwood Elementary attend the Get Your Teach On (GYTO) National Conference in Dallas a few weeks ago. This conference aims to provide support teacher growth and educator effectiveness in a variety of educational areas. #pcssdproud





Avoid the Summer Slide this year with this tip from CATO ELEMENTARY principal, Stacy Bottoms: "Spend time in nature, explore trails and parks near your home, or even pitch a tent in the backyard, and then write about their experiences."

SYLVAN HILLS ELEMENTARY was 1 of 7 schools to exit ADE Section 1003. In order to achieve this, schools must have continuous growth in their subpopulations. Ms. Christopher, Mr. Tillar and Ms. Hickman had the opportunity to present their work to 400 Arkansas educators. #pcssdproud







Huge shout out to the SYLVAN HILLS HIGH forensics/debate team on their recent accomplishments at Nationals. In the school's first ever trip to this competition, they placed 37th in the nation! Alexis Weeks and Jacob Grinder both achieved 100% advancement. Way to go! #pcssdproud
