national merit semifinalists

PULASKI COUNTY, Ark. – Officials of National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC®) announced the names of over 16,000 semifinalists in the 68th annual National Merit Scholarship Program on Wednesday, September 14. Congratulations to the three Pulaski County Special School District students who have been named as semifinalists in the 2023 National Merit Scholarship Program.

Daniel Griffin - Sylvan Hills High
"I am glad to receive this honor and the opportunity to explore the different paths I can take in my life."

Annabelle Ridlon - Joe T. Robinson High
“I am so excited and honored to have earned the opportunity to measure up against the great minds of my generation. I promise I’ll do my best!”

Brooke Zermatten - Sylvan Hills High
"I am very honored to have made it to this level and the amazing opportunities that come with it. I would like to thank my teachers for their commitment to helping me reach my goals."

These students have the opportunity to continue in the competition for more than 7,000 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $28 million that will be offered next spring. To be considered for a Merit Scholarship® award, semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the Finalist level of the competition. About 95 percent of the Semifinalists are expected to attain Finalist standing, and approximately half of the Finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar® title.

Finalists will be announced in February. National Merit Scholarship winners of 2023 will be announced beginning in April.
