PULASKI COUNTY, Ark. (Updated June 28, 2022) – Another Cato Elementary student is being recognized by InvestWrite for their writing.
This spring, 5th grader Kinley Hilliard has been announced as the Arkansas winner for the Spring 2022 National InvestWrite essay contest, ranking 7th in the nation.
“This is phenomenal,” said principal Mrs. Stacy Bottoms. “What an honor for these Cato students! Kudos to their writing teachers, as well!”

Earlier this year, we celebrated another Cato student, 5th grader Madalynn Selvy, who was recognized as the Arkansas winner for the National InvestWrite Fall Contest.
“We are so excited to have a state winner for the National InvestWrite Contest,” said Cato Elementary Math Coach Ms. Karen McDonald.
Madalynn is a Stock Market Game player and submitted an essay to InvestWrite as part of a class assignment.
"I put a lot of work into my essay and knew it was good, but I was still so surprised when my name was called," Madalynn said. "I was shocked and shaking!"

InvestWrite is a national writing competition offered exclusively to teachers and students participating in The Stock Market Game. InvestWrite provides students with a chance to think critically and learn subject matter that easily answers the common question, “How can I use this in the real world?” Along with math, economics, language arts and other disciplines wrapped within the program, the premise of earning and investing money speaks clearly to all ages. Entries are judged and awards are given at both a state and national level.
