Coaches of the Year

PULASKI COUNTY, Ark. – Two outstanding football leaders who led their programs to historic success in their first season as head coaches were recognized at the 2025 Farm Bureau Insurance Awards with Hooten’s Arkansas Football.

Sylvan Hills High School Head Football Coach Mark Kelley was awarded as 6A/7A Coach of the Year. Hired in January, Kelley transformed the Bears from a combined 0–20 record in 2023–24 to a remarkable 10–2 finish. Sylvan Hills advanced to the 6A semifinals, falling only to eventual state champion Shiloh Christian.Mark Kelley receiving the 6a/7a coach of the year award“The coach of the year award is a great reflection of the hard work and dedication of our players, coaches, and community that made this year possible. I am very grateful that Hootens recognized our student athletes' success at Sylvan Hills," Coach Kelley said.

Joe T. Robinson High School Head Football Coach Tyler Uptergrove earned 2025 Farm Bureau Insurance Awards 5A Coach of the Year honors after guiding the Senators to a perfect 14–0 season and the 5A State Championship. Robinson defeated Hot Springs Lakeside 34–19 to secure the school’s fourth football state title and first-ever undefeated season. Coach Uptergrove called the award an incredible honor.
