LITTLE ROCK, Ark.-- Cadets from Mills University Studies High School Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) recently completed the JROTC Cadet Leadership Challenge Camp. The training event at Camp Robinson in North Little from June 3-7, 2024.
The Mills University Studies High School Army JROTC Comet Battalion selected eight enthusiastic, highly-motivated Cadets for participation in the 2024-2025 school year. The Cadets from MUSHS are Cadet Christiana Bailey, Cadet Danisha Batteau, Cadet Kyle Hall, Cadet Noe Jaime, Cadet Jayden McBride, Cadet Eric Gurrola-Sosa, Cadet Brayden Thomas, and Cadet Kaliyah Walker.
More than 180 cadets from 20 Arkansas Army JROTC Programs throughout the state participated in the week-long traditional JCLC Leadership Training Camp. Cadets completed two days of obstacle course training and competition, rappelling, and obstacle crossing. Additionally, the cadets completed one day of the cadet challenge fitness competition, drill and ceremony, color guard and archery. Finally, the group attended a water survival and drown-proofing course put on by certified JROTC lifeguard Cadre Instructors and members of the United States Coast Guard. The Cadets also had the opportunity to tour various Aerospace, Cyber/ STEM Operations Activities at (LRAFB) Little Rock Air Force Base.
Cadet Danisha Batteau was this year's recipient of the Camps (CSM) Command Sergeant Major’s Perseverance Award and Cadet Eric Gurrola-Sosa received his Platoon Sergeants Leadership Award representing 1st Platoon. Additionally, Cadets Noe Jaime and Jayden McBride were collectively honored to be in the best platoon recognized during JCLC. The best platoon was awarded for their collective cadet challenge scores, best platoon chant, drill and ceremony marching, JCLC Cadet Board results and other JCLC competitive events.
